Active Date Manager is a personal information manager that includes a scheduler, to-do lists, appointment manager and more.
Features: Active Date Manager is a personal information manager that has a number of attractive features designed to make a number of daily tasks easy. The most basic feature of Active Date Manager is a pretty standard scheduling utility, that can save appointments of different types. Similarly, an Event manager helps let you store and remember important events (such as meetings etc.). Both of these scheduling utilities will automatically generate reminders based on your personal settings (you can set often these reminders should be generated including audible alarms). Other important dates such as Birthdays, Anniversaries, Doctor’s appointments, can also be stored in the scheduling utility and their respective reminders will be generated automatically. Apart from this Active Date Manager there is also a to-do list manager. The to-do list manager enables you to first enter tasks into the to-do list. Recorded tasks can be sorted according to priority, date, and there is also the facility of adding color codes to separate tasks of different types. There is also a fully customizable address book to store and easily access all of your contacts.
As if these features were not enough from a personal information management perspective, Active Date Manager throws in a really attractive bonus in the form of a Password Manager. The Password Manager helps you remember all your username / password pairs, and it includes the ability to automatically generate new passwords for those times that you blank out and are unable to think of a secure password. All of this information (including scheduler, contact list, to-do list etc.) is secured through 64-bit DES encryption for your peace of mind.
Overall: Active Date Manager is a pretty decent personal information manager. That said, however, the interface leaves a lot to be desired. It is pretty basic (probably by design) and although it gets most of the advertised tasks done fairly easily, there is a distinct lack of attractiveness and the feeling that this is not really a professional offering. There are also no options to export data or synchronize with any of the most popular web based personal information management tools, and this in fact is a severe limitation. But the security features and the built in Password Manager make up for some of these limitations.
I love it.
